Rob Mayer

Design leader and builder based in Brooklyn, New York. I've worked across startups and big tech, leading teams, shaping product direction, and staying close to the craft.

Most recently, I spent five years at Netflix, leading design for the tools behind its global creative operations. That work spanned enterprise platforms, production workflows, and AI-assisted systems for creating and managing promotional content at scale.

Previously, I led design at Wrike, helping double the team and establishing a design system for a global website serving over 1M monthly visitors. I designed AI data-labeling tools at Red Brick AI and created design resources with over 500K downloads, including products acquired by Adobe and InVision.

I also build products of my own. I co-founded Futurum, a pre-seed-backed prediction market that reached 10K monthly active users, and more recently launched AI Job List, a curated job board for the AI industry.

Netflix: Scaling Creative Operations

I led design from early discovery through multiple releases of a platform for managing promotional assets across Netflix's global catalog. The platform connected teams responsible for planning, reviewing, and publishing creative assets, replacing fragmented spreadsheets with shared visibility into asset quality, priorities, and work in progress.

Automation and risk-based prioritization helped shift operations from manual title-by-title reviews to exception-based management, allowing teams to handle growing asset volumes and support major content integrations, including WWE and TF1 in France.

Netflix: AI-Assisted Creative Production

I designed AI-assisted tools for creative teams to curate stills and clips and produce localized artwork at scale. My work spanned creative tooling for adapting artwork across formats, integrated quality signals, video workflows for working with footage before final cuts were available, and visual search.

Futurum: Prediction Markets

I co-founded Futurum, a prediction market built on Telegram and the TON blockchain, and led product design from concept through launch. Working with a nine-person cross-functional team, I owned design across the entire product—from market discovery and participation to creator tools, community growth mechanics, and internal operations.

The startup raised pre-seed funding, reached 10K monthly active users, and grew a community of 19K members across its Telegram channels.

AI Job List

I independently designed and built AI Job List, a curated job board for the AI industry. An automated pipeline sources, summarizes, and filters listings based on rules I defined, notifying me when something needs review.

The product runs largely on its own and has generated 21K page views so far.

Paved: Newsletter Advertising Marketplace

I designed a self-service marketplace connecting advertisers with newsletter publishers — from discovering relevant audiences to booking sponsorships. The work also included an embeddable checkout, allowing publishers to sell ad placements directly through their own websites.

Paved has since grown to reach over 250 million newsletter subscribers across 3,000+ publishers, including Bloomberg and TechCrunch, and was acquired by Redbrick in 2025.
